"Goat Trails"

As a mom, I have learned many ways to influence my kids to produce a desired outcome. One of the most desirable outcomes I seek often is a good night’s sleep. For them and for us.

[Goat trails, enter stage right.]

Um, ‘scuse me? What are goat trails? This is our sneaky way of tiring out the kids so they will sleep well. It started when our first child was just a toddler. It was close to bedtime and we knew she was nowhere near tired enough to sleep. So we had her go up and down our carpeted stairs a few times. Worked like a charm. My husband dubbed this activity “goat trails.”

So from time to time we still use goat trails with our kids, only its in a different form these days. If we are outside I have them do different types of running around like, skip around that tree three times, or hop like a bunny from here to the fence, and so on.

I guess I should point out you have to time the goat trails well. You can’t get them all hyped up on exercise and expect them to go to bed right away.

Anyway, it still works like a charm. Nighty-night, Wabbits!

Do your kids sleep well? If not, try running some goat trails and let me know if it works for you.
