Quick and Easy Dinner

I am not very interested in cooking, but I am very interested in eating.  So, I cook to eat (and to feed the fam).

Since I am so lazy strategic, I am always looking for something quick and easy to make for dinner. Usually, I just throw potatoes in the oven while my husband grills on his beloved Green Egg. Then I get really fancy and open a can of green beans. We grill a lot because grilling guarantees my husband helps cook dinner is just easy.

I’ve been on a pork chop kick lately, and my mom suggested Shake-n-Bake. So, we gave it a whirl!

Success!  We all liked it. My kids thought they were giant chicken nuggets (and they didn’t even ask for ketchup)!  It was totally easy and the box came with two pouches of well, I guess we can call it shake. So, I now have some on-hand for the next time I pick up pork chops and need something quick and easy for dinner.

You know, I have heard of Shake-n-Bake but don’t remember eating it before.  What I do remember is my parents repeating this horrible 1970′s commercial as part of their we’re-so-funny repertoire.

Here’s the commercial for your viewing pleasure. Now I know why they have mocked it all these years. Maybe the next time I make Shake-n-Bake, I will give my kids butt-part hair do’s and let them hay-yelp!

What’s your favorite quick and easy dinner? (If you make something fancy, don’t bother with a recipe, just send me an invitation!)

My fav quick and easy meal is hamburger casserole.

Usually one that I do a lot of prep for, but when I’m done prepping, I just through in the oven for 45 or so minutes and done.

I have a one year old, so some of the prep gets done during nap time.

    Here’s the recipe!
    Hamburger Casserole

    1lb hamburger meat
    1lb elbow macaroni
    1-2 stalks celery
    1 small onion diced
    2 small cans tomato sauce
    1 package of shredded cheese

Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Boil macaroni. Brown hamburger meat, drain grease. Add in celery and onion, cook until onion is clear. Mix macaroni, meat and tomato sauce in baking dish, cover with cheese. Cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour. (till cheese is bubbling and yummy looking.)

Funny how my hubby and I were talking about shake n bake the other day. Neither of us had had it since the 70′s and I came across a coupon for it in All You magazine, I think.
