Pregnancy Symptoms & Side Effects

Having a baby, are we? Well, that’s exciting! Not sure? Wondering about the common symptoms and side effects that occur during pregnancy? Here’s a list of how you may feel when you are a pregnant woman.

Common Symptoms and Signs of Pregnancy

  • Feeling Tired
  • Sore Boobies
  • Heartburn
  • Nausea (Tip: keep snacks in your purse)
  • Aversions to foods or smells (often meats or spices, sometimes different kinds of food – i.e. Chinese)
  • Irritability
  • Feeling Emotional
  • Insomnia
  • Leg Cramps (can make you jump out of bed in a flash despite your belly)
  • Aggressive Behavior (If you are me and having a boy)
  • Mood Swings
  • No symptoms – some people feel just fine and don’t have any of the textbook symptoms.

Which Pregnancy Test is the Most Accurate?

Unless you are getting your test from a dollar store, whatever you buy should work. Most of them come with more than one test in the box. When you go to the OB, they will confirm your pregnancy with blood work. But pretty much if you find out you are pregnant from a home pregnancy test – you are really pregnant. My husband was kind of in denial until a doctor verified it. Then we had an early (viability) ultrasound and that was a MAJOR this-is-real-and-happenning moment for my husband.

When to Test for Pregnancy

Ideally, one week after your missed period.

How early can you find out you are pregnant?

The earliest you can find out you are pregnant with a home pregnancy test is usually after you have missed your period. However, some drugstore tests claim you can find out a few days before you are supposed to start your period. Check the box for details, but the most reliable time to test is one week after your missed period.
