Two Grandpas Build DIY Firetruck Bunk Bed

Father’s Day is coming and what better way to celebrate fatherly (or grandfatherly) love than to share this DIY firetruck bed created for one lucky and much-loved little boy.

My friend, Teri, posted this picture of her son’s new bed on Facebook along with a shout out to “Jack and Dad.” It turns out that Jack is her father-in-law, so that means two grandpas built this really cool bed. How cool is THIS?! how_to_make_a_firetruck_bunk

Here’s the bed before it was painted.

Caulder (left) and Rylen – sweet helpers.

DIY_Firetruck_bunkbed Teri and her husband, Bret, painted and decorated the rest of the bed. I love all the details on it. (Well done, guys!) DIY_truck_bed_front

firetruck_stairs I love the silver kick plates on the steps and the orange reflectors. So stink’n cute!

Speaking of cute, here’s my friend’s son, Caulder, in his super cool firetruck bed built by lots of people who love him.

Jack and Roger used a FREE build-your-own-firetruck-bed plan created by Ana White. If you haven’t heard of her, you MUST check out her site. It’s filled with free plans to build all kinds of cool things. She’s unbelievably talented.

So are Jack and Roger and Bret, who built and painted this bed. Happy Father’s Day to you guys!

(Thanks, Teri, for sharing this with TheMommyhood. Miss you lots!)

Too cute! We used one of Ana White’s designs for James’s hanging bed! Turned out great and he loves having a unique bed!

I didn’t realize (or remember – you probably told me) that the bed was an Ana White design! Next time I am down there, I will come take a picture of it so we can share it. It’s really cool, too!

Just curious how much red paint did you have to buy for the red color? Gallon?

    Thank you.

My friend made it, Patty. Probably more than a quart and two quarts is the same as a gallon, so gallon is probably a safe guess.
