The morning birds were just starting to chirp about the worms. Bert had gone into to work early and the kids were still sleeping (or so I thought). It’s summer so I wasn’t in a hurry to get up. I was just sort of resting when the phone rang.
Me: “Hello?”
Brother in law who lives in Athens, TN: “Heather, it’s Rusty.”
Me: “Hi, what’s up?”
Rusty: “Did you know Charlie called me on Skype? Yeah, we’ve been talking for like 20 mintues.”
Me: “Excuse me, Charlie did what?” I said, sitting up and reaching for my glasses.
Rusty: “Yeah, I expected you to appear in the camera. When you didn’t I asked him where you were, and he said you were sleeping, so I thought I would call and let you know.”
Me: “Uh, okay, thanks.” I said laughing as I headed down the hall to catch him red handed.
Charlie: “I’m talking to Unca Wwwwusty!” he said cheerfully when he saw me. Rusty thought it was pretty great that Charlie had chosen to call him and said he would always remember that morning.
I have to admit, it was pretty funny.
We hung up with Rusty on Skype. I fixed him some breakfast and we talked about it. Then I went upstairs and set up a password on my computer.
Ahhhh kids and technology. What are we in for, guys? I mean, the kid just turned four. Well, one thing’s for sure – we have a lot more to deal with than our parents did! At least we are tech-savvy, too. Well, we are until our kids surpass us.

My son called my husband who is an soldier who just so happen to be in Afghanistan. I was talking a shower and my son comes and told me daddy wants to know what your doing. I jumped out to see what was wrong he never called at that time to find out he was sleeping and my son woke him up . He loved it and told him to call him anytime he wanted to.
