Necessity is the motherhood of invention, according to Plato. Easter weekend last year, I couldn’t have agreed more.
My younger sister and I were going to do an easter egg hunt in our parent’s yard. All I had to do wash show up with baskets (check!), eggs (check!) and candy (oops!).
I checked my wallet for coins and put as many coins as I had in eggs. Coins are great because the kids are stoked about them and they aren’t chocolate, so they don’t melt. For the remainder of the eggs, I decided to do little notes – similar to a fortune cookie.
You could make them funny, like “Aunt Amy’s feet stink” or messages of love, or even religious messages.
Anyway, thought I would share in case any of you find yourselves with eggs and no candy.
Crisis averted. Whew! (I guess I should note that this only worked because my sister had some eggs with candy, so the kids got, candy, notes and coins.)
What a great idea — I like the coins too. I had to send in 24 filled eggs to L’s class for their Easter party, and I put stickers in mine. I know they aren’t going to be short on candy.
Stickers is a great idea, too! I ALSO like that option and coins and messages because they don’t melt. Melted chocolate in plastic eggs is not a party.
It’s amazing in support of me to have a web page, which is helpful in favor of my know-how.
