I am constantly amazed at how often I have to sort through my kids’ things. My sisters and friends and I share clothes and toys for our kids, so a lot of goods need to be sorted and shifted between our houses. Over time I came up with a little system that works for me.
Sort Things into a Bag on a Hanger
I reuse disposable bags we get at stores – especially the large and sturdy ones – and I also use the canvas tote/marketing bags that find their way into our house on a regular basis.
Three Ways a Bag on a Hanger Can Help You Stay Organized:
- Sort clothes/toys that need to be donated to charity and when the bag is full, make a trip to Goodwill;
- Keep one in your child’s closet and whenever you encounter something he or she has outgrown, it goes in the bag. Then the next time you see your sister or friend who can use the stuff, give them the bag; and,
- I use one in our coat closet and keep hats, gloves and scarves in it (pictured above).
Simple. Easy. And it keeps a pile of stuff off the floor.
