6 Ways to Utilize Plastic Grocery Bags

I know you are supposed to avoid using plastic bags, but I still end up with them. A lot of them. So I am always looking for new ways to utilize them. Here are several ways I currently use them.

#1 - Use them in small garbage cans in your house. I actually have a special garbage can that has grooves in it for this purpose. I got it a long time ago at The Container Store. But even if you don’t have one of these, they will work in any small garbage can. I use this on in my laundry room as my dryer fuzz holder.

#2 – Give them to the GoodWill or thrift shops. I tried to donate at a GoodWill satellite location recently and was told they could not accept loose items. So, whenever I am near one I drop some bags off. This not only recycles my bags, but helps others recycle their goods.

#3 - Donate them to a used bookstore.

#4 – Keep one or two in your car as a portable trash can. I am always shocked at how quickly my kids can trash a space – particularly a confined space like my car.

#5 – Put them in your swim bag for wet suits and diaper bag for dirty diapers/clothes.

#6 – Give them to a local food pantry. They can use them to bag food for others.

What are some other ideas for re-using plastic bags?

I use them when I clean out the cat’s litter box. (eww) I also have a friend who is super crafty. She fused her bags and made a shopping tote.

Cat poop….stanky. How does one fuse bags? It’s probably not something I would do, but I’m totally intrigued!
