Babies With E-mail Addresses…Wha?

Yes, I am going to set up e-mail addresses for my kids after reading a post from my friend Krista who blogs at Hope in the Waiting. Her husband set up e-mail addresses for their kids when they were babies and gave the addresses to close friends and relatives so they could tell the kids stories and send them messages via e-mail. And they send their kids e-mails as well.

I have to say, I LOVE this idea.

I do write the kids letters each year on their birthday, and I also keep a word doc on the desktop of my computer where I jot down all the funny things they say, but this e-mail thing is a great addition. Why? Because it’s a low-maintenance way to archive communications between loved ones, especially the grandparents. And I like that other people can initiate it, and it’s not something else that goes on my to do list. You know, until the Viagra spammers find them. (But that’s a risk I am willing to take!)

Tip : If you are using gmail to set up their accounts, use your birthday.

  • Melissa C. — Yes, my kids have their own email addresses, but it is so they can get free food/offers/coupons for their b-days.
  • Karen L. — My husband took a few gmail accounts so she can pick the one she wants when she’s old enough to care.

My kids have email and they keep in touch with relatives that way. Also, it gives them practice using the computer and typing. They also like to email me. LOL

Are you going to get one for the baby? It would be sweet for the girls to send him/her notes hto be read later. BTW, you have been a blogging MACHINE. Props to you, Friend.
