How to Have a Worry-Free Christmas Eve

This is the year! (I totally hear Oprah when I say that to myself).  I am finally going to get it together, Friends. I am not building anything or doing any after-the-kids-are-in-bed projects this year. EVERYTHING will be done in advance so I can relax and enjoy it. I don’t know if any of this will work for you (or for me for that matter!), but here’s what I am planning to do so I can have a nice, calm Christmas Eve.

False Deadline
This is a new one for me. I am giving myself a false deadline of December 19th. My goal is to have everything done like that is Christmas Eve. This will force me to get things done.

The Cards
Every year I buy Christmas cards, but never get around to addressing and sending my half. So unless you happened to be friends with my organized husband, or I know your address by heart, you don’t get a card. Hah! Not this year! This year, I have added my people to his label list. So the cards will go out this year. (I almost want to put in the last two years, just to prove to some of my friends “SEE, I really did get you one.”)

Peace in the Stockings
I got the stockings out today and stuffed them to make sure I have the right amount of stuff. (I’m sure the hubs will be stoked to pull out that new container of NEOSPORIN. Well, we needed some). Anyway, the stockings are always a last minute budget-buster for me, so I am happy to check that off the list.

Easy Gift Giving
There are a lot of people in my life to thank with gifts. Each year I try to come up with creative things to make for people. It seems like a money-saving thing to do, but there’s a catch. I might save a money by making homemade gifts, but when I take into account the gas it takes to gather supplies and the time it takes to make the gift…I’m probably better off buying the gift card the person really wants anyway. So this year, we are giving our teachers gift cards to the movie theater. Because everyone could use a night off (including me)!

So those are some of the things I am trying to do to make my Christmas a little easier this year.  How’s your holiday season going? Are you guys organized or disorganized.
