Story Night on a Starry Night

One night at bed time, my daughter asked me to tell her a story. Creatively bankrupt, I decided to just tell her a real story. She loved it, and asked me if I would tell her a little story every night. While I didn’t promise that, I did say I would try to start telling her more stories.

Now, I realize that part of the reason she likes this so much is that it delays bedtime, but it’s actually turned into something kind of cool. It forces me to think of (and edit!) stories I can tell her, and she is learning things about her mom she otherwise wouldn’t know.

I have no idea if she’s even going to remember our little talks, but we are communicating, and that’s a good thing. We’ve kind of gotten away from picture pages. Maybe I could bring those back to help me remember my stories…

What kinds of things do you all do to spend one-on-one time with family members?
