How to Remove Temporary Tattoos

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Charlie (5) wanted to put a bunch of temporary tattoos on his lower arms. I said yes because so many times I say “no.” And what’s the downside of temporary tattoos? Well, that would be picture day.

So, while Charlie sat at the counter on a stool eating breakfast, my husband and I were standing on either side of him trying different things to get the tattoos off.

[pinit]I asked The Mommyhood on Facebook and you guys totally came through. (I’m so thankful for you all!)

These were particularly sticky tattoos. Ultimately, eye-makeup remover and lots of scrubbing is what worked for us.

Ideas for Tattoo Removal From The Mommies in  The Mommyhood:

Since you guys had experience with so many things that work (and apparently not all fake tattoos are the same) I thought I would share your wisdom for other moms who might be searching around the house for something that will work for them:

  • Deleitha P., Angie S., Jeannine B., Alison S. – Baby Oil/Oil
  • Elizabeth G., Peggy P. – Rubbing Alcohol
  • Melissa C. – Soap, water and a good scrub
  • Rachel S. – Baby Soap/Shampoo & Wash Cloth
  • Melissa C., Jeannine B - Eye-makeup remover
  • Megan T., Sherri J., Regina K. - Nail polish Remover
  • Sherri J. - Hand Sanitizer (which she says also takes the sting out of mosquito bites!)
  • Jennifer R. - Goo Gone
  • Jackie S – Long-sleeved shirt!

Thanks, Girls! Anyone have any other tips for fake tattoo removal?

Nail polish remover DOES not work… At least not on the ones I have on.

We used lemon essential to remove a face tattoo, was easy and less chemicals for the face.
