We love Halloween.
Our current Halloween traditions include:
Making lots of pipe cleaner spiders;
Charlie wearing his favorite shirt, which he thinks says, “I’m Alvin”; and,
Driving three hours to Atlanta to celebrate Halloween with our besties,
who do Halloween like nobody’s business.
Every year, our friends do an elaborate haunted scene in their front yard. At the bottom of the picture above is a coffin (a real one!). Rick, the husband/Dad, is a film teacher so everything is REALLY well done. Lights, fog machines, awesome music. Basically, we make people scream (and sometimes run away and cry).
There’s LOADS of free entertainment including but not limited to pre-teen boys who talk a big game as they strut towards us. But then when they get up close, they start to make a wide arc to avoid the entrance of the haunted scene as their smack talk tapers off…
SO. MUCH. FUN.
Well, Halloween is in the middle of the week this year and the kids are in school, so this year will be a little different…
A New Tradition
It’s time for a new tradition! (A “Boo!” Tradition)
Our friends at Hallmark sent us some things we can use to “Boo!” some neighbors. If you’ve never “boo’d” or been “boo’d,” basically you put a gift of halloween items on someone’s front door with a note in a card, ring the doorbell and run away. They hang a copy of the note in the window to indicate they’ve been boo’d. Then they “boo” somebody else.
To help with this new tradition, Hallmark shipped us a box of Halloween fun that you can win with giveaway details below.
The Prize Pack Includes:
My Pet Ghost
He appears and talks when you push the lid.
The Witch’s Hat Door Decor
It shrieks and and cackles (and it’s weather-proof!).
And a Giant Witch
This card can be used by the person who receives it as a hanging or table decoration.
And of course…cards!
We wrote the card and can’t wait to “Boo” someone!

Congratulations!
I like this post on FB(Kelly D Saver). My daughter will be a witch and my son, a wizard.
Thanks!
Thanks, Kelly! I think it’s fun when little kids are a pair of something. Makes for classic sibling photos!
We’re still thinking about Halloween costumes. My LO has requested to be socks (now, he’s two and I don’t think he really understands what it means). I’m trying to convince him to consider being Thomas or a pirate. But, being a pair of socks might actually be quite funny (and a great story for later).
That is laugh-out-loud funny! I think you should be a shoe, but it would probably be a lot easier (and more comfortable!) to be a sock. Oh, man, that’s funny, Angie.
I liked your fb post (o:
My little gal is going to be batgirl!!
I liked your post on facebook! My daughter is going to be a witch (she’s 4!).
Well my son is going to be a Ninja (complete with a new sword… he worked that one out pretty good). My almost-3-year-old daughter is going to be… wait for it…. Darth Vader.
I secretly love it.
(By the way- we can no longer open our garage door without her do doing the hand signal (like the boy from the Volkswagen commercial) that magically causes it to open. We will be getting it on video very soon.
Can not wait to see pictures! And the video. I love that she want’s to be Darth Vader – that’s some good stuff right there!
