Simple Valentine’s Ideas for Little Kids

Last year, I made these homemade (but CUTE!) valentines for my kids, which, as it turns out, my daughter (7) didn’t love because it involved her picture. So, if you are going to do this, it’s better for a younger child. In the end, for my daughter, I wished I had just done something quick and easy like store-bought Valentine’s with candy you attach. And for Charlie (5) I wish I had done something simple like this one – live and learn.

Play-Doh® is universally loved by kids. Charlie (5) got this from his friend, Emma, and it was a huge hit.  (Shout out to Emma’s Mom, Ashley!) This option is simple, a kid-pleaser, and NOT candy. There will be plenty of candy, and most of it has dye that makes him nutty, so this is a great alternative.

You can also get little boxes of stickers. Those are slightly more interesting than the basic store-bought paper Valentine’s – not candy but still consumable. I got some on clearance after Valentine’s Day one year (and then forgot about them!). That’s the trouble with getting things after the holiday for me – I forget what I bought. Maybe when I do that, I should put a reminder in the calendar on my phone. Hmmm. That might actually work!

What do you do for Valentine’s Day? Do you make your own, or go for store-bought?
