Something really cool happened to me right after my book launched. I got a very sweet note from someone who read it. This was the first time a COMPLETE stranger read the book and liked it. (And like it enough to contact and tell me about it!)

I’ll be honest, I was floored. The book was new and I was incredibly nervous about how it would be received.

Turns out the girl who wrote that note is Elena Fay.

Elena is a blogger and first-time expectant mom from Washington, DC. Her blog is called DC In Style.

About DC In Style

Elena covers fashion and food. She has many talents, but what makes her blog really unique, in my opinion, are her photographs and illustrations. She does incredible drawings, usually based on photos, and even solicits photographs from readers and chooses her favorite ones to illustrate. Her inspiration comes from many places. For example, I remember this Gennifer Goodwin dress from the 2012 Emmy’s. Here is Elena’s drawing of that dress.

Elena’s pregnancy was unannounced at the time she first wrote to me, but she is out now and was happy to mention my book to her readers and even obliged when I asked for a shout out for Heather Hopp-Bruce, whom you all know I absolutely adore. (Thank you for that, Elena.)

Even better, Elena created photos and an illustration of herself reading Secrets of The Mommyhood. How cool is THAT?!?!

And I gotta say this cat, has the best face. EVER!
