I like people-watching.
My son and I had lunch outside at Panera today. It was a great day to be outside and a great day for people-watching.
I saw two (20-something) girlfriends having lunch. And then the phone rang and was answered. One of the ladies had a fight with her boyfriend (dropping f-bombs 10 feet from my son) while her friend ate her lunch in silence. How utterly rude — rude to her friend, rude to my son and I, and rude to all the other people dining outside. (By the way, what a gem! I can’t imagine why she would be fighting with anyone!)
Brrrrrring! Brrrrrrring!
“Hello?”
“Um, can you learn some manners, please?”
I see it all the time with cell phones. One of the rudest things I see is people going through a check out line on the phone the whole time. Newsflash! Those are real-life human beings you’re ignoring. And, your life is only riveting to you. The rest of us don’t really want to hear about it.
Do people on their phones get on your nerves? What bugs you?
Um, yeah… here are the 10 commandments from the fb group I joined talking about plane etiquette.
And I would also like to add that yes, it is SOOOO rude when people expect me to check them out while they are on the phone. Or when they answer mid-transaction.
I also added to the group below….It is NOT neccessary to answer every phonecall. Do not answer it in my shop, do not yell at the person you are talking to hoping they will eventually “hear you now”, and DO NOT ANSWER YOUR PHONE WHILE I AM CHECKING YOU OUT. Thanks.
Cell phone etiquette on how to behave on a plane….
1. Don’t use your cell phone while boarding
2. Don’t stop in the middle of the aise to send a text message, or to continue your conversation
3.Don’t try to talk to the flight attendants about a problem while you’re talking on the phone
4. When you are asked to discontinue use, do so
5. Turn the power off when asked to do so
6. Take off your head set
7. Don’t shout
8. Consider the content of your conversation
9. Watch your language
10. Eliminate the “Can you hear me now syndrome”
11. Don’t try to talk over the background noises on the plane
12. Keep your cell phone handy if you want to use it taxiing in. That’s OK.
