The Cayman Islands in a Cup (Or Close Enough)

I took my kids to swim lessons at an indoor pool at the YMCA. It was hotter than Haiti in there. I sat on some metal bleachers mesmerized by a frosty beverage held by the woman in front of me. It was like a mirage.

I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Frosty beverage, frosty beverage, frosty beverage was my chant on the way home…

And then it hit me…snow cones!

I recently purchased some snow cone cups and flavor (I can’t really call it juice).

When I was a kid we had the Snoopy Snow Cone Maker. A classic for sure.

Well, we don’t have a snow cone maker now, so I just crushed ice in the blender. Molly had cherry and Charlie had blueberry. The kids referred to them by color rather than flavor. When asked what color mine was I replied greenish-yellow. It was a deliciously slushy  margarita for Mommy. Never thought I would drink tequila from a snow cone cup. But, hey, there’s a first for everything!

Snow cones. Yum!

    Ahhh… mid-day margaritas in a kid cup — sometimes it’s great to be a stay-at-home mom!
