I Guess So

Do you remember wanting to do things as a kid, and your parents told you no? I do, so when my daughter (6) comes to me and asks me to do something I really don’t want her to do but it’s not that big of a deal, I find myself trying to say yes. Case in point, taping things to the wall.

By the way – the perfect gift for a six year old is tape. I think she might get some in her Easter basket this year along with a stapler. No idea why kids grow to love office supplies, but it happens, or at least it’s happening at my house.

Okay, back to the story.  At first my daughter taped up some cutouts of our family. Tape on the wall…not my favorite, but it’s better than markers on the wall.

Then she made a star for Charlie (3) and put it on his wall “so he can wish on it.”

And finally, she came to us with a pile of papers and wanted them on her ceiling so she can see them from her bed.

I was totally wrinkling my nose at this one, but what the heck, right? So she handed them to my husband one at a time and told him where to put them.

Um, it’s TOTALLY cool. Seriously, it looks like modern art. So, sometimes when you let kids do what they want to, they delight you.

Too cute! It’s so hard to shake the “no no no’s” off and let them be creative, so how cool it was so fun for her! And it turned out very neat too!

I still feel like I say no a lot. Sometimes you just gotta.
