Snacktime for Mommy

I have something in common with my sister-in-law, Carla…we both like popcorn and red wine as an evening snack.

Carla is a neat person in a lot of ways. I pretty much always learn something when I hang out with her, like this quick and easy meal recipe. Don’t you just love people like that? Anyway, I recently learned something from her indirectly. My mother-in-law mentioned Carla is no longer making microwave popcorn because she had some concerns about it.

I made a mental note to look that up later. Carla pays attention to things that aren’t good for you, so I did some research on microwave popcorn and read about the ingredients in the “butter flavoring.” Well, that was enough for me. So, once again I have followed Carla’s lead and I now make my popcorn in the pan with a lid. It’s so easy. After puring in a little bit of vegetable oil, I cup my hand and pour two small handfuls of kernels into the pot and dial it up to medium heat until the popping slows down.

I think it tastes much better because I put a little real butter on it.  So, my beloved evening snack is now even better than before, plus it’s better for me. Thanks, Carla!

Do you like popcorn and wine? What’s your evening snack of choice?

Sounds great! Unfortunately, I don’t really like popcorn, but wish my snack could be margaritas and chips. My kids call this “mommy’s medicine”!!

Okay that’s funny. Wish we could have chips and a margarita together. Cheers!

It used to be coffee and chocolate-now it’s popcorn and wine! A winner either way. Another good reason to read The Mommyhood.

I’m a wine and dark chocolate girl! Reading this made me think of all the times B would pop (and burn) popcorn in the office!

There’s nothing worse than over-popped popcorn. If it’s even a little bit burned, it makes me throw the whole batch away!
