Father’s Day Gift Idea #2

I don’t know about you, but Father’s Day gift giving is always a bit of a challenge for me.  So this year I am taking my cue from the giftee.

One year when it was Mother’s Day, money was tight so I suggested a homemade gift.

I was expecting artwork from the kids, but what I got was so special that I have asked for the same thing every Mother’s Day from now on.

And it doesn’t cost a penny.

What was this wonderful gift? My husband made a video of the kids for me.

He interviewed them about me. It’s really a fantastic gift on a lot of levels. Not only did I get some really sweet messages from them, but it’s a great way to capture their development and personalities over time. We will be able to look back at the videos and see how much they have grown at regular intervals and relive all their sweet little mannerisms and quirks for years to come.

And I so enjoyed hearing them tell me what I mean to them as a mom, that I want to give the same gift to him. So, that is what we are doing for Father’s Day this year, and I highly recommend it.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple as turning on a point and shoot camera and asking your kiddos what is special about their dad. If you don’t have the means or know how to edit a video, don’t worry about it. Let the kids pile up in Dad’s lap and play the messages for him right from the camera.
