We love surprising our kids. In fact, we often don’t tell them about fun things in advance so we can enjoy that moment when they find out we are doing something really fun. In this case…a trip to Disney World!

Here’s How We Surprised Our Kids With a Trip to Disney

We picked up the kids (4) and (7) from school and brought them back to the house. I told them we were going to the dentist and sent them upstairs to brush their teeth. While they were doing that we set out three wrapped presents with numbers on them.

I loved the looks on their faces when they came down all minty fresh and confused.

Inside each box was a piece of paper with the following words:

Box #1 – WE ARE

Box #2 – GOING TO

Box #3 – DISNEY WORLD!

It was so much fun to tell them this way! And we got it on video. Priceless.

Do you like surprising your kids? What are some fun or creative ways you have surprised them?

We have done this several times. The first time was the best though when we drove to Florida with the children having no idea where we were going. When we pulled up to Pop Century Resort they finally realized what we were doing and started screaming.
It was Mother’s Day weekend also and the best Mother’s Day I have ever had thus far.

This year we actually bought a Disney annual pass and have planned trips for each of the children with one parent. The first child thought dad was going on a business trip until we told him he had to get on the plane too. We had packed his bags without him knowing. He sat stunned regarding the reality of it for awhile. ;)

We did that on our first trip, too! Just put em in the car and didn’t tell them until we drove through the Magic Kingdom main gate (and we stayed at Pop Century, too!) The kids were 2 and 5 so we could get away with doing that.

This time they were 4 and 7, so I knew my daughter would guess if we tried that again and I wanted to make sure I caught her off guard so I could capture the surprise moment on video.

I love the idea of taking them one on one. You can tailor the experience to each child and they cherish that one-on-one time with mom or dad. GREAT idea. And surprises are the best. Love that you just put the child on the plane with Dad. That’s awesome. Clearly, you are a master of surprises and I bow down!

I’ve heard surprises are the way to go with little ones that can’t understand waiting! Plus I’m sure the video is priceless. Happy travels!

Yes, and even though the trip is planned you just never know what could happen and I would hate to offer up that kind of disappointment if something went awry.

Can’t wait to surprise my little one with a trip to Disney… she’s only 5 months old now!

She’s free until she turns three. We took my son at 2.5 and it was so fun to watch him experience it all.
