P.S. I Love You…

Okay, so I am heading off to a blog conference (Blissdom) for a few days. I love and hate to leave my kids. To make the departure a little easier, I try to leave them with something fun. Last year I gave them a treasure hunt that led to one of those Hallmark recordable storybooks. They loved it.  My daughter even took the book to school for show and tell, and the teacher let her use it for story time.

This year, I decided to take my cues from the movie P.S. I Love You, where the woman gets all these notes at different times from her husband. Okay, we’re just going to gloss right over the fact that he’s dead in the movie. We’re just building off the idea here. (No one is dying. Hopefully.)

So, I wrote my kids a little note for each day I am gone and in the note there is a clue that will lead them to little gifts hidden around the house (some jelly beans, glow sticks, that kind of thing).

It only took a few minutes to do, and I know they will love it – mostly because of the anticipation involved.

And this is also super extra benevolent of ME, because my husband can leverage this for good behavior while I am gone.

Well, I am off to learn a ton about blogging and meet some nice people at Blissdom! Hope you are having a great week, and keep this kind of activity in mind next time you flee the homestead with an ear to ear grin go on a trip without your kids.

I’m not sure if I want to be Thelma or Louise. Hopefully, I won’t drive off any cliffs, but if I do, at least I wrote those letters!

Totally kidding. Probably.

Heather

P.S. I love you!
