Here’s a Good Thanksgiving Activity

I know it’s hard to think of Christmas when Thanksgiving hasn’t even happened yet, but this project requires a little bit of lead time and it is actually a good craft the kids can do over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Last year, I found a make-your-own plate kit at Hobby Lobby for $5.99, and the kids made this plate for our Santa cookies.  The kit includes markers, several round pieces of paper, an envelope and an orderform. You mail the drawing(s), the orderform and a $7.95 processing fee per plate to the company, and they send you your plate in a few weeks. You can also have a  photograph put on a plate (cost is higher – $16.95), but I am partial to the creativity of a drawing.

Last year when I sent ours in to be processed, I used my kids’ names for the ship to informaion. It was fun when it came in the mail addressed to them. (We love mail over here).

While I love the plate they made last year, I would also like to see what my kiddos would come up with this year. So, this might be an annual tradition for us. Now I wish I had put the year on our first plate, so that’s something I would recommend to you if you do this.

The company I used is called Makit Products. They have mugs, bowls, coffee cups, trays, ormanents and photo frames, but the Santa plate is where it’s at for me!
