Wii – Just Dance Over Here

We got a Wii a while back and used it a little at first. Then our interest in it sort of fizzled. Recently, two things revived our use of the Wii…

1). We moved it from the main livingroom TV and put it in the playroom. We realized the kids were capable of turning it on themselves and the newness had worn off enough that we were comfortable letting them touch it.

2). My pal, Victoria (one of the best gift-givers I know) knew there was a Wii game that would be a hit in our household….Just Dance. And oh was she ever right. If you aren’t familiar with this game, the gist is you hold the Wii remote and follow the movements of the dancer on the screen. You get points for how well you mimic the movements and multiple people can join the dance competition if you have additional remotes. It’s fun for the dancers and it is hysterical for anyone who is watching.

And that is why my three-year-old was singing womanizer in the bathtub the other day. There is a pretty good range of music, too.

Wii Just Dance is great for family night or fun with friends. In fact, my husband recently took it to an off-site work meeting with his co-workers. He and his work friends had a ball cutting up and dancing. I think he generated a few Just Dance customers for Nintendo as a result.

Anyway, if you have a Wii and don’t have this game. I highly recommend you put this on your Christmas shopping list. It’s a winner.

Now that my kids are all into the Wii again, I am looking for games to put on my Christmas shopping list. Do any of you have recommendations? What do your kids like to play?

My kids and all their friends love Wii’s “Wipeout.” It’s relatively new, I believe. It’s like the TV show “Wipe Out”, where people try to navigate various types of obstacle courses, while avoiding falling into the water or mud, or getting socked by a big inflatable ball, etc.
