How to Tighten Roller Shades

Ever wonder how to tighten up a loose roller shade? Well, I recently learned how and it’s simple.

When it comes to my kids’ rooms, instead of blinds I prefer room-darkening roller shades. Not only are they cost effective (about $10 each at The Home Depot), but there’s nothing worse than a room that’s not quite dark enough for naptime or bedtime in the summer.

After about two years of raising them up and down, the spring mechanism wasn’t really doing it’s job.

[Enter my awesome husband, who knew roller shades could be tightened.]

How to tighten roller shades:

1. Draw shade down to the half-way point.

2. Then remove the shade from the window.

3. Then manually roll up the shade as tightly as you can.

Then hang it back up. Easy.
