One teacher with whom I spoke suggested home-made bookmarks. Most teachers read a lot, and those who don’t are always grading and sorting papers, so bookmarks are handy.
You can simply have your child draw a picture or write a message on a piece of card stock the size of a bookmark. Or if you are feeling crafty, here are some things others have made that might inspire you.

I know these are cards, but I think if you did a slimmer version of this it would make a great bookmark. These are by Larissa Holland at mmmcrafts. I’m so glad I came across her blog, this girl is gifted.
This one is by Kayla at the Funky Polka Dot Giraffe.
And this one is from Family Fun magazine. I love that they created a little pocket for a gift card (and there is no sewing required). This is definitely something my six-year-old could make!
Know of any other cute bookmark ideas? Have you made one before?
