Motherhood Moment: Future Hobos of America

Why build a fort in the house when you can build one…in the GARAGE!

“We’re going to live out here, Mom!”

I guess that explains the change of clothes. Note the clean socks and jacket (I’m so proud).

Just so you know as I write this I can hear Billy Joel’s I’m Moving Out. (If that’s mov’n up than I’mmmm moving out!  And of course my favorite part of that song ka ka ka ka ka you oughta know by now…)

And if they are going to live in the garage, at least they are concerned about safety and entertainment.

Microphones will come in handy when they start a garage band to sing to Kitty and Bear. And if they have any trouble, Molly can wear her red and yellow Super Molly Cape to deal with any danger while Charlie cheers her on with a UT pom pom. There were also some rations (Cheezits) but you can’t see them in the picture.

And, for the record, I was less than thrilled that all our nice blankets and throws on the narsty garage floor, but of course I did what any good blogger would do in this situation - get the camera!

We had some good times doing this when I was a growing up. Do you remember building forts as a kid?

Building forts on the deck was my favorite activity when I was a kid! I’m so looking forward to when my kids take an interest in it that I’ve been hoarding old blankets and sheets for years… although I’m sure despite my best intentions they’ll end up using my good blankets in the end, much like your children did:)

Fun! I bet you guys will make some rock’n forts. We used to use sheets and then use stacks of books to hold them on things All was well until someone bumped the fort and the books came down on us. Then there was crying. My kids make forts when its raining (or I won’t let them watch TV and they are bored). I don’t know when they started it, but I think I probably introduced it, so you should totally make one next time you guys are cooped up and see if you can ignite the fort fire!

Great to hear from you, Diana!
