Angi, who reads TheMommyhood.com shared a note to the tooth fairy written by her eight-year-old daughter. It’s awesome. Check it out…
Tooth Fairy, what do you do with the teeth?
Why does my dog never bark when you get my tooth?
P.S. I’m broke, can you leave 30 or 40 dollars under my pillow?…or 5 or 10?
Then comes the bribe. What a girl, huh? And she’s asking some DARN good questions. Angi said she told her daughter that the tooth fairy gives dogs bacon to keep them quiet while the tooth is taken. (I thought that was quite clever. No wonder this girl is so smart, she gets it from her mother!)
Don’t you hate it when your kids make good points about things – especially during an argument? It was better when they were easily duped or swayed by whatever we told them. It’s only going to get harder I guess.
Anyway, huge thanks to Angi for sending this in so we can share a chuckle. And if any of you guys have any funny notes from your kids to the tooth fairy, or funny stories, I would love to see/read them. Have a good day, Friends!
Not sure how to scan and upload. Harriet left a letter but I didn’t date it unfortunately. Part of it is crossed out as she determines its probably not appropriate to include but you can still read it. It goes:
Dear Tooth fairy,
My tooth got knocked out by my brother’s head! I hope you like my tooth. (next is crossed out) By the way, my brother’s jealous because I get a dollar, wich i won’t probably.
Love, Harriet
I love it! Ohh, that is priceless. I love what they write. It’s so funny to read what they think. Gives you a window into their brain and makes you remember how YOU used to think – or it does me anyway.
Good stuff, Susan. Aren’t you glad you put it in a safe place? And that’s an excellent point on the date. We should all be putting dates on things. And names, at some point I might not know what Molly wrote and what Charlie wrote.
Great tip and great story.

The tooth fairy has missed our house three times… Once for my son and twice for my daughter. Our daughter is a night owl and often outlasts me. Two of the times, I managed to get up before the kids, but that one time I didn’t was horrific…. She came down in tears, distraught the tooth fairy had missed her. She was furious at her dad… Who’d accidentally dropped her tooth down the drain the day before. (this resulted in taking the sink apart, where amazingly, he found it!). She was convinced he’d done something to the tooth that made the fairy not come. We managed to convince her that we grownups had been awake all night, her dad too late and her mom too early. So the fairy couldn’t come in. It was a very long day at our house. And that night, she went to bed early and the tooth fairy came, and all was forgiven. Although we are still reminded that even adults need to be in bed for the fairy. Needless to say, I’m not super keen on these events requiring an adult outlasting a kid…. Besides the tooth fairy, we slept through one Easter and scrambled to fix it, and one year I only beat the kids as Santa by an hour. My youngest is coming up to three, and I’m hoping once I start sleeping better through the night (no wet beds, no help me to the potty and all the rest), that I might be a better magical creature. As for now, it’s a good thing I can come up with plausible reasons for late arrivals.
Rondy,
Oh dear, that is AWESOME and funny and stressful. See, nobody tells Dads-to-be that one day they will be taking the sink apart to extract a tooth. That’s real love right there. What great parents you are to work so hard to keep the magic alive despite the obstacles!
Plus, it makes for great stories. Though it’s nutty in the moment, later it’s WAY funny and part of what makes everything so memorable. Okay, sometimes it takes awhile for it to be funny, but still.
My daughter was on to us about hiding Easter eggs, so I told her that the parents did the hunt and the Easter Bunny just brings the treats. Then her cousins came over for the egg hunt and she totally told them that. Nice. It hadn’t even occurred to me that she would tell anyone else. Live and learn.
Having only an hour for Santa makes me twitch. If we have get to that point I might break out the Christmas Benedryl! Only kidding.
Thanks so much for sharing your tooth fairy tale, Rondy! Have a good weekend.

I accidentally slept through one night too.
May daughter was very upset. I told her I’d go look.
Lo and behold I “found” a dollar that had fallen behind the bed.
Ooops. (grin)
Way to think on your feet, Angi! You saved the day! I botched one last week. Tooth number 6 was a doozy. Will write about it when I get a chance. Hope you are having a good one.
