Soda! Wait, What Wagon Am I On?

I was avoiding soda and doing great for a while, but have TOTALLY fallen off the wagon and as a result I am super super puffy. The state of my stomach is just not acceptable, and we are heading into the holidays where all the best foods emerge.

My childhood BFF (and health nut), Melissa, just did a 30-day cleanse – like the real deal cleanse. I followed her progress on Facebook and it was hard for her but she felt great. Am I signing up for that? Um, no. Wrong wagon. But I have decided to try 30 days of just water and see how that makes me feel.

I’m not about to be dieting on Thanksgiving, but avoiding all the liquid calories sounds doable and wise. So I am giving it a shot.

Today was the first day. Then this afternoon, I came across this from Everyday Health about and thought I would share it.

I know soda is not good for me. But, I pretty much love it. At the same time, I gotta do something, so if anyone is looking for me I will be on the water wagon. Are you a soda drinker? Have you mastered the art of moderation?

I am a diet soda drinker :( I have tried and been successful at short stints of not drinking ANY. I know it’s terrible for me, and yet I still do it. The worst part is, I am diabetic and even diet soda makes my blood sugar wacky. I love water, so it’s easy for me to drink it, and I don’t keep soda in the house. but when I’m out, I often find my van on autopilot to Sonic, lol!

Good luck, and I’ll join you! :) Today’s just as good of a day to start as any, right?

I was a Diet Coke junkie for YEARS. Like several a day. I kicked it to the curb and decided if I was going to have something, it would be better to have regular coke and just every once in a while. That didn’t go well. So I have been on and off of regular coke for a while.

Why do we like the stuff that’s so bad for us?!?!

Well, glad to be off of it for now. 30 days, Amber. We can do anything for 30 days, right?

Way to go! I’ve been ‘off’ diet coke for 2 months now! Yay! It’s super hard just drinking plain old water! When I did my cleanse some things that helped me to drink more water was adding lemon and limes to the water or even oranges! Cucumbers are very refreshing and detoxing in water too. Also, sparkling water with natural flavor such as LaCroix is a nice change from still water.
    You can do it!

Okay I’m going to Google LaCroix in a minute. Funny you say that about cucumbers and oranges – they do that at spa places. I just bought some cuties, maybe I will give that a whirl.

This lady I met was telling me about a high alkaline water with a high PH. Do you have any thoughts on that?

PS – For the record, it’s been less than a week and my skin looks WAY better. Still pining for soda, though…
