It’s awesome if you can plug your lights into an outlet that is controlled by a wall switch. If that’s not an option in the room where you have your Christmas tree, I recommend this Christmas Ornament Switch. We’ve had one for a couple of years and it’s great.
You plug your lights into the Switch and then plug that into the wall.
And then you put the ornament on the tree, so you can turn the tree lights on or off with one touch. No pine needles in your hair! And your kids will love to do it themselves. (And if you don’t want them to, just put it up high. Or better yet, let the kids think you are magic!)
There’s also a foot pedal light switch you can buy.
